The med center community is invited to an Aug. 23 retirement reception for Ronnie Powell, a longtime staff member of facilities management and planning.

The reception will be in the Sorrell Center Event’s Center from 1:30 to 3 p.m. with brief comments at 1:45 p.m.

Known as for his winning smile, friendliness, professionalism and collegiality, Powell has been on campus since 1976. He moved from housekeeping into Facilities Management and Planning, where he served as a full-time refrigeration tech. He attended Metro Community College for his associate degree in refrigeration. He is known about UNMC as “The Mayor.”
