Omaha Science Cafe - "Living Donor Liver Transplants”

Science Cafe is excited to partner once again with Blue Barn Theatre Omaha on the Feb. 19 Omaha Science Café.

Join Wendy Grant, MD, from the University of Nebraska Medical Center - UNMC transplant team as she presents, “Living Donor Liver Transplants.”

In 'I and You,' Caroline awaits a life-saving liver transplant as a result of a genetic condition. In Nebraska alone, there are over 400 people on the transplant waiting list. 98 percent of Nebraskans support organ and tissue donation, but only about half of eligible Nebraskans are registered. Fewer still are aware of the possibility of serving as living donors. Living donations have transformed the field in the last 20 years. Dr. Grant gives us an overview of the scope of the transplant process, the scale of the need, and debunks some stubborn myths.

Pizza provided for the first 50 people by the Nebraska Coalition for Lifesaving Cures.
