ECHO Autism STAT: A Novel Approach for Building Clinical Capacity of Pediatric Providers in Rural and Underserved Communities

ECHO Autism STAT is a novel approach that uses videoconferencing technology to connect rural primary care providers (PCPs) to an interdisciplinary team of ASD experts at a university setting. Data has shown that this approach has led to increases in PCP self-efficacy in managing patients with ASD and in early identification of symptoms using validated screening tools (Mazurek, et al., 2017; 2018). We have implemented ECHO Autism STAT in New Mexico and Northern Arizona since January 2017.  This talk will discuss the benefits of and considerations associated with implementing this model.
