Mental health challenges can affect anyone, and knowing how to respond can make a meaningful difference. Join UNMC Campus Engagement, in partnership with the Office of Community Engagement, Region 6 Behavioral Healthcare, and the Department of Psychiatry, for Adult Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), an internationally recognized, evidence-based training that equips participants with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to recognize and respond to someone experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge.

Whether you want to be better prepared to support a friend, family member, neighbor, student, patient, colleague, or community member, this full-day training provides practical tools to recognize warning signs, offer initial support, and connect individuals with appropriate professional and community resources.

Participants will learn how to:

• Recognize common signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges.
• Respond using the Mental Health First Aid Action Plan (ALGEE).
• Connect individuals with appropriate professional and community resources.
• Address stigma and understand that recovery is possible.
• Practice self-care strategies for themselves and others.

Advance registration is required, and pace is limited. Lunch will be provided. Participants who successfully complete the training will receive an Adult Mental Health First Aid certification.
