Dr. Meric-Bernstam is the Endowed Chair Nellie B. Connally Chair in Breast Cancer, Department of Investigational Cancer Therapeutics, Division of Cancer Medicine at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

About Dr. Meric-Bernstam, MD: 

Dr. Funda Meric-Bernstam is Chair of the Department of Investigational Cancer Therapeutics at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, one of the most influential Phase I programs in the world. She also serves as Nellie B. Connally Chair in Breast Cancer, and as Medical Director of the Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Institute for Personalized Cancer Therapy. She is PI of the Texas Experimental Cancer Therapeutics Network, which supports investigator-initiated clinical trials across our organizations in Texas and Louisiana, and enables participation by Texas investigators in national Phase I trials. She is also mPI of the Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences, which supports workforce development, capacity building, and other initiatives across Texas. Dr. Meric-Bernstam is an active clinical trialist with 25 ongoing clinical trials, with focus on genomically-informed trials, first-in-human trials, novel combinations and novel perioperative strategies. She has led multiple practice changing studies including agents targeting HER2, FGFR, and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). Dr. Meric-Bernstam also co-leads the national precision medicine trial ComboMATCH, a signal-seeking study designed to overcome drug resistance to single-agent therapy and/or utilize novel, genomically driven synergies to increase efficacy.
