Conference - Empowering Women Across Nebraska: Economic Security
The American Association of University Women- Nebraska Chapter (AAUW-NE) 2018 Fall Conference will focus on Empowering Women Across Nebraska: Economic Security.
Did you know …?
- AAUW found that women hold almost two-thirds ($890 billion) of the country’s $1.4-trillion student debt while men hold $490 billion.
- While education is often thought of as a great equalizer, it does not shield women of color from the pay gap or the wealth gap. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that the percentage of black women who are full-time minimum-wage workers is higher than that of any other racial group.
- AAUW believes that protecting Social Security is critical for women’s economic security, especially as they enter retirement.
