Brown Bag Lunch & Learn: "BRCA1: a Personal Perspective"

We’ve all heard the story of Angelina Jolie and her surprising decision to have a preventive double mastectomy, and recent advances in genetic testing have made this scenario more common, even here at UNMC. Join Rick Blum, of the Department of Ob/Gyn, and his wife and daughters, as they share their journey to raise awareness and reduce the stigma of cancer-preventing surgery. Dr. Jennifer Griffin (Ob/Gyn) will also discuss the indications for genetic counseling and the impact it has on families. Sponsored by the Olson Center for Women’s Health. Seating is limited; please pre-register by calling the Olson Center at (402) 559-6345 or by emailing Lana Molczyk (
