An event focused on the examination of Omaha and Nebraska’s rich and expansive African and African American history with guest speaker Barry Thomas.
During this event we will discuss how African American history should be redefined to offer a more expansive representation of the Black experience in America, examine how Nebraska and Omaha’s history are significantly connected to the African Diaspora, and forecast the role of modern activism and institutions, like UNMC, in disrupting the racially-traumatizing experience in society and leading in institutional change to create an inclusive learning and working environment.
