"Art and Pride: Using the Arts as a Vehicle for Social Change"

Brigitte McQueen - she/her/hers

Brigitte McQueen is the founder and executive director of The Union for Contemporary Art. Originally from Detroit, Brigitte adopted Omaha as her home and started The Union in 2011 as a means to work for social justice in North Omaha through the arts. The Union is committed to strengthening the cultural and social landscape of our community by using the arts as a vehicle to inspire positive social change. Founded on the belief that the arts can be a vehicle for social justice and greater civic engagement; Brigitte and her team work to strengthen the greater Omaha community by encouraging others to rise above the lines that divide us — racially, socially, and economically — so that we may become a more unified and culturally vibrant city.
